The 16th World Saxophone Congress will take place in St. Andrews, Scotland in 2012. Reed Music composer and saxophonist Barry Cockcroft has been elected to the International Saxophone Committee along with Claude Delangle (France), Kenneth Tse (USA), Andy Scott (UK), Shyen Lee (Thailand) and Thomas Liley (USA). Reed Music offers its congratulations to Richard Ingham (UK), director of the next congress and is looking forward to offering its support for this important event.

The university town of St Andrews is an exceptionally attractive location for an event of this sort. The university's beautiful main concert hall seats nearly 1000 and there are convenient rehearsal facilities, a wide variety of performance venues of all sizes, and plentiful accommodation and restaurants all within easy walking distance in this charming and ancient coastal town. The congress proposal is supported by the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, other UK conservatoires such as the Royal College of Music, The Royal Northern College of Music, the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, leading soloists and composers, the National Saxophone Choir of Great Britain and the Clarinet and Saxophone Society of Great Britain. The World Saxophone Congress coincides with the University’s 600th anniversary celebrations and with the Olympic Games in London.
